Winter weddings at Arley Hall

The Arley Hall Wedding Fair takes place on Sunday 21st March 2010 and I'll be there.  If anyone wants to take a look round my Studio too, it's only a 5 minute stroll from the Hall, so please feel free to drop in after the Fair.

I realised that I haven't posted any recent photos from weddings at Arley, so here are some from the wedding of Holly and James Bretel at Arley Hall on 23rd November 2009.

Despite the weather, it was a wonderful day. This is Holly making a dash for the Chapel in the rain!

And this is the newly wed Mr and Mrs Bretel outside the Chapel after the blessing.

The Hall is lovely in winter and we used the library for some photos.

Although the bride and groom had to take cover during some major downpours, there was a break in the clouds and a lull in the festivities at the end of the afternoon and we got outside to take some great pictures, before dashing inside again when the next cloudburst threatened!

We finally took cover before night fell for the first dance and then Holly and James and their guests partied on into the night.

Georgina and Shea Nugent and Imogen

Another lovely couple and another lovely baby!

In 2007 Georgina and Shea Nugent got married at Mottram-in-Longdendale and had their wedding reception at Capesthorne Hall.

Georgina and Shea are a great couple and we had a lot of fun shooting their wedding.

The guys at Reel Vision filmed all the wonderful events of the day.  If you don't blink and miss it, I'm in the wedding film on YouTube for about one second...

And last month they brought their lovely little girl Imogen in for her first photoshoot with me.

Like I've said before, one of the best things about being a wedding photographer is getting the chance to see couples become parents and to become the lifestyle photographer for their family.

Bill Carr, Rachel Carr and Brodie Carr

In 2007, Rachel and Bill Carr got married and I had a great time shooting their wedding.

Last month, Rachel brought their baby son, Brodie, in for his first photoshoot with me!

Not all photographers would agree with me, but I think you get the clients you deserve, in all sorts of ways. I've been really lucky: I have great clients, and one of the best things about my job is that many of the couples whose weddings I shoot stay in touch after their wedding day and I get to meet their family and friends and to photograph their new and growing families.

I predict a future in front of the camera for Brodie Carr!

Snowy wedding at Thornton Manor

Here are a couple of photos from the first wedding I did during 2010, and what a fantastic day it was!  I first met Louise and Matthew almost exactly a year ago at the Tatton Park wedding show in January 2009, when they were still looking for a venue.  At my recommendation, they visited Thornton Manor, and fell in love with the place.  On the day of their visit it snowed, and Matthew said that if there was snow on his wedding day, he'd be delighted.  Well, there was and he was!

Louise got ready at home, in Kingsley and was married in the church she attended as a girl.

Then it was on to the magnificent setting of Thornton Manor.

Matthew got his shots in the last of the snow.

Even in the depths of winter, there are great shots available in the Lime Walk.

The beauty of a winter wedding is the warmth of the candles and fires.  They add a real glow and beauty to everything.

A great day with a lovely couple.

New Year wedding at the Belle Epoque

Well, not quite.  Claire and Rob were actually married on December 29th, but it's close to New Year isn't it?

They had a civil ceremony and reception at the Belle Epoque restaurant in Knutsford, and a great time was had by all!

Here are just a few shots from the event.

Though they don't show it, it was COLD! outside.

Wedding fairs 2010

Just a quick mention of some forthcoming wedding fairs I shall be at.  First of all, Manchester's Midland Hotel on Sunday 24th January; then it's the Tatton Park wedding fair on the weekend of 30th/31st January.  This is the biggest and most prestigious wedding fair in the region, so hopefully I'll see lots of you there.

Snow on the Arley Hall Estate

Like millions of others, the snow has made my journey to work much longer and more interesting! I'm very lucky to have my studio in the grounds of the Arley Hall Estate:it's a beautiful place to work (and a great wedding venue too). All my clients love the vibe at the studio, whatever the time of year, but at the moment it's even lovelier than usual, especially with the wood-burning stove alight and a roaring blaze going. I'm keeping an eye on the weather forecast though, as I'm not sure how much deeper the snow might get before the studio will have to close for a few days.
These photos were taken yesterday afternoon.
